Sustaining Our Holy Ground

About the capital campaign

In the summer of 2008, Holy Covenant is celebrating a very special event. We’ll be commemorating the one-year anniversary of our capital campaign, Sustaining Our Holy Ground.

In 2007, we promised to go above and beyond in our giving so we could repair and update the church itself. This building has been a place of sanctuary, social justice, peace, welcome and faith for more than 100 years. We can feel the Spirit of our Living God flow through its doors with every song of praise that fills the sanctuary, in the silence and meditation of our hearts before the altar or feast table, in the conversations with patrons of Dignity Diner, in community and fellowship during hospitality in the Art Gallery, and during reflections on the Bible in education classes.

Holy Covenant is a Christian community of people, first and foremost. But this building, this holy space that has been home to unions, funerals, baptisms, and conversions, has also played a vital role in the story of the Holy Covenant community.  This old building has provided a shelter in which to worship God and a location from which to venture forth to do God’s works for generations of Christian people. Yet after more than 100 years, this building and its holy ground need vitally important work performed in order to continue the ministries of today and face the challenges of tomorrow.

SO…

…in order that Holy Covenant may continue to be called a home and a place from which God’s people are sent forth to do God’s good works for many more generations to come, we embarked on the journey of a capital campaign, raising money for building projects to take our beautiful building into the next century, and beyond.

The journey has begun, but it is not yet over--and there is plenty of time to join us along the way.  Read on to learn more…
