All are welcome here. Regardless of your age, gender, political leanings, religious background, sexual orientation or any other factor, there’s a place for you at Holy Covenant. Come visit us on Sunday and see for yourself.
Everyone at Holy Covenant once walked through the doors for the first time. We remember what it’s like to be a little nervous and unsure of what to expect. Here are answers to the most common visitor questions (if you have others, please e-mail us at office@holycovenantumc.org).
Holy Covenant United Methodist Church

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, noon to 5 p.m.
Coffee, water and other beverages are available throughout the service in the art gallery, which is located off the sanctuary through the doors on either side of the altar.
Whatever you like; dress is casual. Please note that we have no air conditioning, so summers are warm.
Enter through the big red doors on Diversey. A greeter will welcome you and give you a bulletin with that week’s service information. Take a seat anywhere you like.
About 75 to 100 people attend each service.
We welcome families and children of all ages to worship with us. Sunday school is held in the basement during the first service every Sunday; your child will be welcomed back after the Time for Young Christians portion of the service. He or she can attend Sunday school alone or with you.
Our services are a blend of traditional and modern styles. On any given week, you might sing a hymn you remember from childhood, pray a prayer from an ancient spiritual tradition, hear the choir perform a pop song you heard on the radio yesterday, see a dramatic performance, or even join a conga line.
Communion is served the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome to eat at God’s table. We receive by intinction—a server will give you a piece of bread that you then will dip into a cup of grape juice.
To get to the restroom, walk south through the doors on either side of the altar, head through the gallery and turn left when you get to the glass doors. Please feel free to do so at any time during service.
During service, a notebook will be passed around—take a moment to write down your name and address so we can get to know you better, and your e-mail address if you’d like to receive our weekly e-mail newsletter.
Our website contains information on service opportunities, small groups and other ways to get involved. Church leaders will be happy to speak to you in person or by e-mail about ways to connect. And finally, Discover Lunches are held the first Sunday of every month after worship. Join Pastor Kate for a free meal and further discussion about what it means to be a member. It’s a great way to meet people, hear more about Holy Covenant’s beliefs and actions, and get connected to community.
Newcomer Orientation and Small Group - Wednesdays, 7p-8:30pm
This weekly gathering on Wednesday nights is designed to introduce newcomers to each other and to give some basic information about Holy Covenant, the United Methodist Church and the Christian faith. Each session covers a different aspect of our mission statement: Seek God, Love All People, Change the World. After three visits, we hope that visitors will be well-informed about what Holy Covenant is all about and will get to know some of the other people sitting next to them on Sunday morning.
Sign-up is not necessary, and all are welcome to visit for any or all sessions.
