Ministries of justice and action are an integral component of Holy Covenant’s
life. We open our doors to all of God’s people, and seek to make connections
between real faith and real life.
Dignity Diner
Every Tuesday evening at 6:00, Chicago’s homeless and hungry are invited to
be our guests for dinner. Neighborhood volunteers and parishioners welcome forty
to sixty men and women for a sit-down, restaurant-style vegetarian meal. Feeding
body and soul, Dignity Diner is a place where compassion and respect are always
on the menu. To volunteer, contact Kara Teeple.
Reconciling Ministries Network
Holy Covenant joins hundreds of other United Methodist congregations and
communities to open wide the doors of the Church to people of all sexual
orientations and gender identities, and to call for their full participation in
the community of faith. Reconciling Congregations proclaim and live out the
simple, powerful life of hospitality and love shown to us in Jesus Christ. Our
radical openness is not a political decision, but a calling of the Gospel. We
love because God first loved us. Find out more about the Reconciling Ministries
Network by viewing their web site.
Outreach to Homeless Youth
Youth Partnering with Chicago’s Night Ministry, Holy Covenant regularly
prepares and offers hospitality, food and warm conversation to homeless youth on
the streets of Lakeview.
Lakeview Action Coalition
Holy Covenant joins 35 institutional members, including religious
congregations, not-for-profit agencies, banks, business associations, a credit
union, and a senior citizens caucus to be part of the Lakeview Action Coalition.
The coalition enables its members to act on their values in public life by
participating in the decisions that shape our community’s future; it fulfills
this mission by organizing people around issues affecting our members and by
developing leaders through training, action and reflection.
