The Reverend Trey Hall, Pastor
"I’ve been the pastor here at
Holy Covenant since July 1, 2004, and I absolutely love it. I get to spend my
days doing things that I am passionate about—preaching, creative worship,
teaching, helping our congregation live and grow into its amazing vision,
inviting folks to pay attention to their own callings from God, welcoming people
to an inclusive Christian community that changes lives and believes it can
change the world.
When I’m not at church, I’m
either running on the paths along Lake Michigan; reading, writing, and
people-watching at my favorite neighborhood coffee shop; or enjoying music,
which is really a form of prayer for me—especially classical and folk."
Originally a Southern boy, Trey has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature
from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN (1996), and a Master
of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta
(2000). Before becoming pastor at Holy Covenant, Trey served as Interim Pastor
at the Thatcham and Kingsclere Methodist churches in Berkshire, UK (2000-2001),
and Associate Pastor at Glenview United Methodist Church on the north shore of
Chicago (2001-2004).
